Lynx Motors Launches Reservations For DeLorean DMC-EV: A Revival Of The 1980s Classic

Lynx Motors has officially launched reservations for its highly anticipated DeLorean DMC-EV, an electric vehicle (EV) reimagining of the iconic 1980s sports car. This exclusive model, blending nostalgia with EV technology, comes with a hefty starting price of $249,999.

Rod Keller, CEO of Lynx Motors, expressed his enthusiasm for the project stating, “We are thrilled to open reservations for the Lynx DeLorean DMC-EV, a vehicle that represents the pinnacle of automotive innovation, impeccable style, and unparalleled performance.”

According to Lynx Motors, the DeLorean DMC-EV comes in an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system powered by four in-wheel motors. Under the hood, the EV contains a 70 kWh CATL battery pack that delivers up to an estimated 250 miles of range. Moreover, it has an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds. Also, it comes with NAS (Tesla) charging standard compatibility.

In terms of exterior design, the DeLorean DMC-EV retains the classic two-door, two-seat silhouette of its predecessor but incorporates EV technological features with advanced LED lighting for street legal compliance. As for the interior, it comes in a luxurious touch while redesigned with LED Displays and touchscreen interfaces. Notable safety features include side intrusion protection and traction control.

As production is limited to ensure exclusivity, Lynx Motors offers a unique VIP experience to complement the EV’s premium status. Each buyer will be paired with a personal Lynx Concierge to guide them through the entire process, from reservation to delivery. In addition, the company is providing a 80% buyback program and a 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Furthermore, test drives are scheduled to begin in late 2024, with deliveries projected to start in 2025. The company has not disclosed the exact number of units that will be produced.

As the DeLorean DMC-EV represents a blend of nostalgia and future-forward-thinking design, its success remains to be seen but certainly will capture the attention of the EV market. Interested buyers can secure their spot by making a deposit starting at $2,500.
