With Ferrari recently unveiling its E-Building for its upcoming electric vehicle (EV) models, the company is reportedly planning to introduce a subscription service for battery warranties.

According to Bloomberg, Ferrari is set to offer an annual subscription that will be priced at around 7,000 euros ($7,500) to cover battery-related services and replacements for its EVs. This warranty program is made to coincide with the company’s entry into the EV market, with its first EV aimed to launch in late 2025.

Interestingly, the subscription service will extend beyond Ferrari’s standard three-year factory warranty and the five-year coverage currently offered for hybrid models’ batteries and related components.

In detail, the annual subscription will include several features. First, it provides coverage for battery-related defects and maintenance. In addition, the subscription ensures scheduled battery replacements after eight years of usage. Moreover, there will be a second battery pack replacement at the 16-year mark for all-electric models.

As a result, the extended warranty focuses on alleviating potential buyer concerns about battery degradation and replacement costs, which can be substantial in high-performance EVs. By offering this service, Ferrari intends to maintain the resale value of its EVs and encourage longtime Ferrari buyers to transition to electrified models.

In alignment with Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna’s goal to explore new revenue streams while fostering buyer loyalty, the subscription will also be available through official Ferrari dealerships. With Ferrari’s first all-electric model set to arrive with a price tag exceeding $500,000, the subscription will most likely attached to this model.

As the automotive landscape sees Ferrari adding EVs into its lineup, the company’s approach to battery warranties could set a new standard for luxury EV automakers. With its first all-electric model underway and its E-Building set to begin operations in January 2025, Ferrari will be a stand-out in the EV market.
