In the United States (U.S.), BMW’s EV sales demonstrated strong numbers in Q2, with 14,081 units sold, noting a 24% year-over-year increase. This exceptional performance brought EVs to represent over 15% of BMW’s total U.S. sales for the quarter. The stand-out performer is the BMW i4, which led the charge with 7,066 units sold, followed by the iX SUV and the newly introduced i5 sedan.

In terms of BMW’s overall brand sales, it saw an increase of 2.3% globally, with 1,096,486 units delivered. As for BMW M GmbH, the company’s high-performance division also reported a 5.1% increase in sales.

Jochen Goller, Board Member responsible for Customer, Brands, and Sales at BMW AG, expressed the company’s success stating, “In the first six months of the year, we saw double-digit growth of our fully-electric vehicles and models from the upper premium segment. Despite a challenging market environment, we increased sales for the BMW brand in the first half of the year, thanks to our attractive product portfolio.”

BMW Future EV Offerings

For the second half of 2024, BMW has set to capitalize on the full availability of its new 5 Series models including the first-ever BMW i5 Touring. As for further future plans, the company has aimed to introduce electrified versions of its 1 Series and 2 Series models while hyping up its electric M3.

With BMW’s strong performance in the EV market, the upcoming EV offerings will add to its future sales performance. As EVs now gradually comprise a notable portion of automaker’s sales, particularly in key markets like the U.S., BMW is proving that legacy automakers can effectively add EVs into its lineup successfully.
