BMW made a strong statement about its electric vehicle (EV) lineup at the Paris Motor Show 2024. The prestigious auto show, running from October 14 to October 20, saw BMW unveiling a range of new EVs, innovative technologies, and a glimpse into its future direction.

One of the highlights of BMW’s presentation was the world premiere of the first all-electric MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) models. The MINI JCW Electric and MINI JCW Aceman mark a significant milestone in the brand’s history, blending MINI’s motorsport heritage with cutting-edge electric technology.
Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI, emphasized the importance of this launch: “We are combining the tradition and character of the MINI brand with the latest technology to create a unique driving experience that will thrill our customers.”

According to BMW, the new MINI JCW electric models bring exciting performance upgrades, featuring a power output of up to 190 kW (258 hp). This enables swift acceleration, with the MINI 3-door model reaching 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, while the Aceman variant achieves the same in 6.4 seconds. Both models offer a top speed of 200 km/h, delivering a thrilling driving experience typical of the JCW line.

In terms of range, the MINI JCW Electric provides up to 371 km (230 miles) (WLTP), while the JCW Aceman offers a range of up to 355 km (220 miles), making both models practical for longer journeys. Additionally, the innovative electric boost function enhances performance, providing a burst of power when needed. To complement their dynamic capabilities, both models feature JCW-specific suspension settings and high-performance brakes, ensuring precise handling and control at high speeds.

BMW also showcased its vision for the future with the first joint appearance of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse and BMW Vision Neue Klasse X. These concept vehicles preview BMW’s upcoming model portfolio, set to enter production in 2025.
Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design, stated, “With the two vision cars for Neue Klasse, we are showing how we are going to change the look & feel of the BMW brand.”
The Neue Klasse vehicles showcase a sleek and minimalistic design language, emphasizing simplicity and elegance. According to BMW, they come equipped with the next-generation BMW iDrive system, enhancing the driving experience with cutting-edge technology. Key innovations include the BMW Panoramic Vision, a 3D Head-Up Display, and a new multifunction steering wheel, offering advanced driver-vehicle interaction for improved control and connectivity.

These entertainment options will be available through the AirConsole platform in models equipped with the BMW and MINI Operating System 9, ensuring a seamless and connected experience for both drivers and passengers.

BMW’s EV lineup now consists of more than 15 models across various market segments. This expansion includes electric two-wheelers from BMW Motorrad, catering to urban mobility needs.
