In the realm of electric vehicle (EV) safety, Audi’s newest electric SUV, the Q6 e-tron, has achieved the highest possible safety rating from Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme), earning five stars and securing the prestigious “Best in Class” designation for child safety.
According to Audi, the Q6 e-tron demonstrated exceptional performance across all test categories, with particularly impressive results in adult and child protection. In the adult occupant protection category, the Q6 e-tron scored 91%, nearly achieving perfect marks. The EV’s child safety features earned an outstanding 92% rating, making it the top performer among all vehicles tested in 2023 and 2024.
The Q6 e-tron stands out for its innovative child safety features, including three i-Size seats: two in the rear and one in the front passenger position, exceeding typical offerings in its segment. The i-Size standard, introduced in 2013, ensures seamless compatibility between child seats and vehicles. The SUV also features intelligent front passenger airbag deactivation for rear-facing child seats, automatically adjusting protection based on occupant detection.
Behind these achievements lies Audi’s substantial investment in safety development. The company employs 220 safety experts who conduct more than 1,000 crash tests and around 20,000 virtual accident simulations annually. This testing program also marked a milestone as the first evaluation of post-crash functions in an Audi model, including rescue data sheets and e-call systems, where the Q6 e-tron performed exceptionally well.
“The comprehensive safety features and outstanding test results of the Q6 e-tron demonstrate our unwavering commitment to protecting all vehicle occupants,” an Audi spokesperson might say. “These achievements reflect our continuous innovation in safety technology and design.”
The safety ratings will apply across the entire Q6 e-tron family, including the forthcoming Sportback variant and S models scheduled for release in 2025. Automotive enthusiasts will get their first glimpse of the Sportback version when it makes its world premiere at the 2024 Paris Motor Show on October 14, where Audi will showcase its latest advances in both safety and EV technology.

This achievement not only reinforces Audi’s position as a leader in automotive safety but also demonstrates that EVs can deliver top-tier protection alongside their environmental benefits. The combination of cutting-edge safety features and electric powertrain technology in the Q6 e-tron represents a significant step forward in the evolution of secure electric mobility.
