StoreDot has announced a significant breakthrough in charging speeds as it successfully developed prismatic battery cells that can charge electric vehicles (EVs) from 10% to 80% in just 10 minutes and now the company is ready for mass integration.

“This milestone not only demonstrates our ability to work closely with EV OEMs to customize the XFC technology to their specific format, it also showcases the success of our partnership with Flex|N|Gate in scaling up our prismatic cells,” stated Amir Tirosh, COO of StoreDot. “Together, we’ve taken a giant leap forward in EV battery innovation, offering OEMs our game-changing XFC technology in the prismatic format many prefer.”

According to StoreDot, key features of StoreDot’s XFC technology include:

  • 10-minute charging from 10% to 80% for large prismatic cells
  • No compromise on battery health or range
  • Capability to provide 100 miles of charge in just five minutes
  • No accelerated degradation despite faster charging speeds
  • Compatibility with existing EV architectures

In addition, StoreDot’s XFC cells offer a unique combination of high energy density, crucial for high-performing EV batteries, robust reliability, and a price trajectory comparable to standard battery solutions. This could enable automakers to build more affordable EVs without compromising on performance or charging speed.

Partnerships and Production-Readiness

Moreover, StoreDot has partnered with 15 major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to extensively test its production-ready silicon XFC battery cells. Furthermore, through its collaboration with automotive manufacturer Flex|N|Gate, StoreDot has proven that its technology is scalable for mass production.

Guido Benvenuto, Flex|N|Gate Vice President of Global Sales, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership stating, “Producing these high-performance prismatic cells at our facility demonstrates the success and strength of our manufacturing capabilities in this space and our commitment to advancing EV battery manufacturing technology. This is a significant step forward in our shared mission to accelerate electric vehicle adoption by addressing one of the most critical challenges – charging time.”

As part of StoreDot’s ‘100inX’ technology roadmap, the company aims to further reduce charging times, targeting 100 miles of charge in just four minutes by 2026 and three minutes by 2028. Notably, StoreDot is backed by major players like BP, Daimler, and Volvo.

With its production-ready status and partnerships with major OEMs, StoreDot’s breakthrough of its XFC technology for immediate integration can potentially become a catalyst needed to overcome buyer hesitation and drive widespread EV adoption.
