The reveal date holds special significance for Scout, coming 44 years after the last Scout II rolled off the production line on October 21, 1980. This timing pays homage to the brand’s rich heritage while ushering in a new era of electric adventure vehicles.

Scott Keogh, President and CEO of Scout Motors, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming reveal stating, “After two years of dreaming big and pushing boundaries, we’re ready to show the world the next generation of Scout vehicles.”

While details remain limited, Scout has provided some tantalizing hints about their new offerings. Firstly, both an SUV and a pickup truck will be unveiled. Second, the EVs will feature a bold, iconic design reminiscent of the original Scouts with a focus on ruggedness, capability, and versatility. Moreover, there will be an emphasis on “real tactile controls” and “real feel.” Lastly, it will have a unique body-on-frame platform designed specifically for off-road capabilities and an inclusion of a locking differential.

Notably, Scout Motors is currently constructing a $2 billion factory in Blythewood, South Carolina, dedicated to producing these new electric vehicles. Production is aimed to start in late 2026, with sales following shortly after.

With the resurrection of the Scout brand placing Volkswagen in direct competition with other electric adventure vehicle manufacturers, most notably Rivian, this move into the growing electric off-road segment demonstrates Volkswagen’s EV portfolio expansion and tapping into the American market’s appetite for rugged, capable EVs.

As the October 24 reveal date approaches, anticipation continues to build as the EV market will see the showcase of Scout’s first models in Nashville.
