Kia EV9 Sales To Surpass 50,000 Units For May 2024

Kia’s popular electric vehicle (EV), the EV9, is defying expectations again with a tremendous surge in sales. The EV9 SUV is reportedly on track to exceed the 50,000-unit milestone within its first year of launch due to high demand in global EV markets.

The Kia EV9 has made a fantastic track record since its launch debut in 2023. After achieving several accolades from winning 2024 World Car of the Year and 2024 World Electric Car at the New York International Auto Show to winning ‘Best of the Best at the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024, making the Kia EV9 a trailblazing role model in the EV market. 

As for its impressive sales numbers, the Kia EV9’s cumulative sales figures unveiled that as of April, Kia has sold an impressive 48,291 units of the EV9 globally, with projections indicating that the 50,000-unit mark will be surpassed by the end of May according to KEDGlobal. The success is due to the EV9’s appeal to global buyers, where it has consistently sold between 2,000 to 3,000 units per month.

Notably, export sales of the EV9 have been taken notice with 81.4% of total sales volume during the initial 11-month period. As for the U.S. market, it accounted for 5,579 units sold in the first four months of 2024 alone. Interestingly, domestic sales have not performed as well with only 970 units sold between January and March 2024 despite enforcing price cuts of up to KRW 3.5 million ($2,620) in February according to KEDGlobal. This could be seen due to the U.S.’s strong demand for SUVs in contrast to other global markets. 

With Kia’s EV9 making another milestone in its course, the global EV market is watching Kia’s next move with its recent announcement of its upcoming EV3 SUV launch that comes low-priced. Yet, as the EV9 still retains dominance in Kia’s EV lineup, the company is garnering more recognition in the EV industry as a formidable name.
