As a result, the RN24 represents a major departure from conventional electric vehicles, prioritizing driving dynamics and motorsport heritage over practical utility.

According to Hyundai, the RN24 is powered by a formidable dual-motor system derived from the IONIQ 5 N, delivering 650 PS through an advanced power electronics system. Despite maintaining an 84 kWh battery capacity, engineers achieved a more compact footprint by reducing the wheelbase by 340mm, bringing the vehicle’s dimensions in line with Hyundai’s i20 N Rally1 Hybrid WRC car.

“RN24 exemplifies Hyundai N’s commitment to advancing electric motorsport technology by prioritizing the driving experience rather than spec numbers,” stated Joon Park, Vice President of N Brand Management Group. “This Rolling Lab proves that there remains untapped potential for high-performance EVs.”

Moreover, the RN24 features numerous motorsport-inspired innovations, including a WRC-style suspension setup with rally-spec dampers and high-rigidity subframes. A sophisticated ‘Rally Mode’ motor torque control system optimizes power distribution to all four wheels, while an innovative e-Handbrake system, recently tested at the WRC’s Central European Rally, helps reduce weight by eliminating traditional hydraulic components.

As for performance, the RN24 delivers an estimated 0-100 km/h time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h. The EV concept weighs around 1,880 kg (around 4144 lbs) and combines a 175 kW motor with a 303 kW unit with boost.

Furthermore, distinctive visual elements include an exposed roll cage inspired by WRC vehicles, TCR-inspired spoiler for enhanced aerodynamics, and 19-inch matte black forged wheels from the Elantra N.

In addition, the RN24 also features an external high-output sound system with side speakers and a rear fender soundbox designed to create an immersive acoustic experience.

As the latest addition to Hyundai N’s Rolling Lab series, which started with the RM (Racing Midship) series in 2012, the RN24 serves as a testbed for future N production models. As the EV concept represents a bold statement about the future of performance EVs, it displays the focus on agility and driver engagement is significant rather than traditional metrics of EV success.
