According to Ford, the company’s EV sales showed growth but with mixed results across its models. For its overall EV sales, it displayed an increase of 28.9% to 8,944 units. In terms of specific EV models, the F-150 Lightning sales surged 160.7% to 2,654 units, the Mustang Mach-E sales grew modestly by 6.12% to 5,341 units, and the E-Transit sales increased 6.75% to 949 units.

As for year-to-date EV sales figures for 2024, the F-150 Lightning: 21,121 units, up 86.47%. The Mustang Mach-E: 32,167 units, up 39.80%, and the E-Transit: 8,078 units, up 75.91%.

Moreover, Ford estimates that it captured a 12.6% overall market share in August, up 0.9% from last year. As a result, this makes Ford the top-selling brand in the U.S. for two consecutive months.

Strategic Shifts in Electrification

In detail of Ford’s adjustment in its electrification strategy, the company recently canceled plans for a large, three-row electric SUV and has also delayed the launch of the next-gen electric truck (Project T3) to the second half of 2027. As of now, Ford is focusing on developing affordable EVs.

As Ford resumes its adjusted EV strategy to navigate the transition to electrification, its performance in its overall sales including its growing EV sales will progress and move forward to meet diverse buyer demands in the evolving EV market.
