ChargePoint has announced a new milestone in its global expansion for electric vehicle (EV) charging, where it now offers access to more than one million charging ports across North America and Europe.

According to ChargePoint, the company’s extensive charging network has deployed over 10 billion electric miles driven to date, equivalent to circling the globe more than 400,000 times. Notably, 4 billion of these miles were added in the past year alone, underlining the accelerating pace of EV adoption and the increasing demand for charging infrastructure.

Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, expressed the importance of this achievement stating, “With more EVs on the road, ensuring drivers have access to reliable charging everywhere they need it is imperative. Enabling access to more than one million ports, on a network that has enabled more than ten billion electric miles to be driven, underscores ChargePoint’s commitment to delivering a world-class driver experience.”

Moreover, ChargePoint’s mobile app plays a vital role in its service by allowing EV owners to locate, activate, and pay for charging sessions across its network. As a result, this seamless feature contributed to the company reaching 1 million quarterly active users in the fall of 2023.

Furthermore, the company’s growth has been supported by strategic partnerships and expansions throughout 2024. ChargePoint has partnered with automakers such as Porsche to provide charging solutions for their respective networks. In addition, the company has begun rolling out NACS adapters to support Tesla owners and partnered with Airbnb to offer EV charging options for guests.

Significantly, the environmental impact of ChargePoint’s network is influential. The company estimates that its customers have evaded over 410 million gallons of gasoline and over 2.2 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by choosing EVs and utilizing ChargePoint’s charging infrastructure.

With the growth of EV sales and charging infrastructure being dependent on each other, ChargePoint’s new milestone signals progress being made in the U.S. with the transition to electric mobility being accelerated.
