BMW’s Electric M3 Could Deliver An Output Of Around 1,341 Horsepower

BMW’s M division is gearing up to make a daring statement in the electric vehicle (EV) market with its upcoming electric M3 model. Frank van Meel, CEO of BMW M, has made the audacious claim that this new model “will beat everything you have ever seen.”
Built on BMW’s new Neue Klasse platform, the electric M3 could deliver an output of around 1,341 horsepower from its quad-motor structure according to van Meel’s interview with Motor Trend. This would make it not only the most powerful production M car in history but also one of the most potent electric vehicles on the market, surpassing high-performance EVs including the Tesla Model S Plaid. Interestingly, the electric M3 is expected to revive the i3 nameplate, potentially badged as the i3 M, and will sit above the current crop of M Performance electric models.
Moreover, van Meel emphasized that raw power will not be the only focus of the new electric M3. The M division is putting a strong emphasis on “neutral, linear, and predictable” handling, limits, and chassis control. This approach aligns with M cars’ traditional focus on driving dynamics rather than just outright power.
Furthermore, van Meel also told Motor Trend that rear-wheel-drive (RWD) options will still be available that feature around 700 horsepower, However, all-wheel-drive configurations are also being explored, potentially mirroring the current M3 lineup which offers both RWD and AWD configurations.
As the EV market grows from seasoned automakers adding more EV models to their selective lineup, BMW’s electric M3 has set high standards that could redefine performance standards for high-performance EVs if its impending arrival lives up to its expectations. The electric M3 is set to debut around 2026 or 2027.
