Uber has announced the addition of a new electric vehicle (EV) model, the all-electric Lotus Eletre SUV, to its London fleet through the end of November 2024.

According to Lotus, the limited-time initiative allows London passengers to experience the Lotus Eletre by selecting the Uber Green option in their app at the same price as a standard UberX ride. To incentivize adoption, Uber has launched a competition where the rider who saves the most emissions during the promotional period will win free Uber Green rides for the next decade.

“We’re thrilled to team up with Lotus to combine cutting-edge luxury with sustainable travel,” stated Andrew Brem, General Manager for Uber UK. “Uber drivers are already leading the way, going electric far quicker than regular motorists – making London Uber’s global capital for electrification.”

Moreover, the partnership comes as Uber celebrates a milestone in its sustainability efforts, with nearly 30% of all Uber miles in London now being fully electric. Since the launch of Uber Green in central London in 2021, the service has contributed to saving 55,000 tonnes of carbon emissions in the city.

Conor Horne, Commercial Director of UK and Ireland at Lotus, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration stating, “We are incredibly excited to partner with Uber to have a fleet of our all-electric Lotus Eletre available in London via the app for passengers to experience and enjoy. We hope this initiative will not only enhance the riding experience for Uber customers but also contribute to a greener city.”

The Eletre, Lotus’s first all-electric Hyper-SUV, provides passengers with a truly premium experience. Its spacious interiors are designed for luxurious comfort, offering ample room and an inviting atmosphere. The cabin is decorated with high-quality, premium materials, adding a sense of refinement to the EV’s design.

In addition to its elegant interior, the Eletre arrives with advanced infotainment systems that enhance the driving and passenger experience. The EV also features cutting-edge EV technology, ensuring it stays ahead of the curve in innovation. With its outstanding aerodynamics and high performance, it makes the Eletre not only stylish but also a powerful presence on the road.

A Step Forward in Luxury Electric Mobility

Furthermore, the fleet will be managed by Otto Cars, London’s largest private hire provider. Otto Cars CEO Gurinder Dhillon commented, “We are delighted to power-up this concept for Uber and Lotus. Let’s prove that a sustainable ride can be a thrilling experience, without the smoke.”

The initiative also benefits Uber drivers, who earn 10% more for Uber Green trips than UberX rides. Passengers can track their environmental impact through the in-app Emissions Savings tool, which launched earlier this year.

With this partnership symbolizing a new step forward in luxury electric mobility transport, it offers Londoners the unique opportunity to experience one of the world’s most advanced EVs while contributing to the city’s environmental goals. Riders have until November 30 to participate in the promotion and compete for the decade of free Uber Green rides.
