Kia is preparing to outshine its rivals and be at the forefront of the electric vehicle (EV) market as its affordable EV3 is set to launch along with its EV4, establishing itself as a leader in affordable EVs as the company plans to release eight EV models for the U.S. EV market by 2029. 

According to Kia America COO Steve Center in an interview with Automotive News, he expresses the company’s position in regards to EV technology compared to its rivals stating, “We’re ahead of most, and we’re trying to rush out ahead because our technology will be more evolved,” he said. “You can’t just jump in and catch up. You have to have your own R&D, your own secret sauce.”

With the debut of the EV3 coming soon in the middle of the year, the starting price is projected to be around $32,000, according to Automotive News. If this pricing is accurate, Kia will be leveraging itself to enter a wider and more accessible section of the EV market with this extremely affordable pricing. 

Furthermore, Kia’s strategy to take advantage of U.S. tax incentives like the federal EV tax credit of $7,500 will make its EV offerings more appealing to buyers with more limited spending. As Kia’s EV offerings become a part of eligible EVs for the federal EV tax credit, its target buyers will grow along with it while increasing U.S. EV adoption.

Kia is taking charge of the EV market as the upcoming arrival of its affordable EV3 along with its EV4 plans to stand out from the rest. Overall, the rise of EV adoption due to affordable pricing will make the EV industry more resilient as Kia goes forward with its plans for electric mobility.
