After a challenging period for Ford’s electric vehicle (EV) plans, the company bounced back with an increase in EV sales in April 2024. Ford managed to reach a 129.2% increase year-over-year in EV sales compared to the same period last year, displaying a great turnaround in its EV strategy.

In April 2024, Ford sold a total of 8,019 EVs, marking a large jump from the 3,499 units sold during the same period last year. The standout performer in Ford’s EV lineup was the Mustang Mach-E, which saw a growth of 204.7% in sales compared to April of the same month last year with 4,893 units sold. 

Other models in Ford’s EV lineup also experienced an increase in sales including the F-150 Lightning with an increase of 57% year-over-year and the E-Transit with an increase of 86% year-over-year, counting 2,090 units sold and 1,036 units sold respectively. 

Ford’s EV plans have been showing signs of higher demand as the automotive landscape is evolving due to buyers’ preferences. Moreover, Ford’s further plans to make more of its future EVs price point placed between $25,000 and $30,000 will elevate the company to higher standings in the EV market.

With Ford’s EV sales, particularly the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, only trailing behind Tesla as America’s second-best-selling according to Ford, its efforts to make an impact in the EV market while influencing the transition to electric mobility are being noticed.
