According to Volvo, its latest model is set to make a strong debut with its first deliveries starting this month in both the U.S. and Europe, and global expansion planned through early 2025. This new EV provides a driving range of up to 600 km (372 miles) to on a single charge and features bi-directional charging capability.

Furthermore, it is equipped with a core AI system powered by NVIDIA DRIVE and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Platform. The vehicle also includes Google built-in services, enhancing user experience with seamless integration. For improved safety, the EX90 features lidar technology by Luminar. In addition, it supports 5G connectivity and offers over-the-air software updates, ensuring the latest advancements are always at your fingertips. It is also the first Volvo to feature lidar and a core computing system, positioning it as the safest Volvo ever made.

Jim Rowan, Volvo’s CEO, personally tested the EX90 on a 950-kilometer journey across three U.S. states. “Based on this trip, I can confidently say that the EX90 is the best car we have ever made,” Rowan remarked, praising its charging efficiency, handling, comfort, and advanced technology.

The EX90 is produced at Volvo’s recently upgraded plant in Charleston, South Carolina. The plant has undergone extensive renovations including expansions to the body shop and paint shop, and the addition of a battery pack production line. With production taking place at Volvo’s South Carolina plant, which has an annual capacity of 150,000 units, the starting price for this model is set at €83,700 in Germany and $79,995 in the U.S. market.

it should be noted that Volvo has previously stated that early deliveries may lack several important features including Apple CarPlay integration, bi-directional charging capabilities, and the EV’s advanced lidar safety system.

In Germany, the EX90 will be available starting at €83,700 for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model, while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant begins at €91,700. U.S. buyers can expect prices starting from $79,995, with only the Twin Motor and Twin Motor Performance variants available in the American market.

“The Volvo EX90 embodies our future as a fully electric car maker, with cars that continuously get better over time thanks to core computing and software updates,” says Rowan. This launch signifies not just a new model, but the beginning of a new era for Volvo Cars, showcasing their position at the forefront of the automotive industry’s technological shift.

As the Volvo EX90 stands strong to reflect the company’s engineering prowess and vision for electric mobility, its combination of notable features and safety innovations sets a new standard in the electric SUV market.
