Volkswagen has announced a delay in the launch of its 2025 ID.7 electric vehicle (EV) model in the United States (U.S.) and Canada, which was expected to arrive in Q3 2024 following its European debut in 2023. 

Currently, Volkswagen has not informed a new scheduled release for the ID.7’s availability in North America. Due to these unforeseen circumstances, the delays are caused by continuous shifting market dynamics according to Volkswagen. In detail, Volkswagen’s ID.4 was down by 37 percent year-over-year in the U.S. in the same span of Q1 2024.

Furthermore, details regarding the pricing and EPA estimated range specs have not been public yet. As of now, the public details are that the ID.7 will be available in two different trims, Pro S and Pro S Plus with options for either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). In addition, there will also be two wheel sizes on offer for the ID.7 model as well. 

Despite the delay for the ID.7 model, Volkswagen’s 2025 ID.Buzz model still remains on track to appear in the U.S. market with its scheduled release not announced yet as well as pricing. Notably, the ID.Buzz model has also already been available in the European market since 2022 and it was only recently that Volkswagen announced only spec details for its U.S. release. 

As Volkswagen figures out solutions to prevent further delay of the ID.7 model for the U.S. market, the most that can be done now for potential EV buyers is to patiently await its arrival with as much anticipation as possible. For now, Volkswagen is still committed to bringing its 2025 ID.Buzz model to the U.S. market as it gradually ramps up its electric lineup.
