The Porsche Taycan isn’t just any car; it’s Porsche’s first electric sports sedan and it’s super fun to drive. For the 2025 model, Porsche went all out to make the car go farther on a single charge and fill up the battery faster, and they let us test drive a prototype to see how much better it has gotten.
At first glance, you might not notice anything different about the 2025 Taycan. But if you look closely, there are some cool changes. The car looks a bit lower and wider, thanks to some tweaks at the front to help it cut through the air better. Even though the cars we saw didn’t have any badges, they weren’t hiding under any covers, either.
Inside, Porsche has added some neat features to help drivers know more about charging. There’s a new display that shows how fast you can charge the battery and another one that shows the battery’s temperature. Both are pretty handy for making charging easier and quicker.
We got to drive a special version of the Taycan that’s supposed to go really far on a charge. It’s a rear-wheel-drive car with big wheels and a big battery. We drove it from Marina del Rey to San Diego and back, and it did great, even at high speeds. It looks like it can go about 340 miles before needing a charge, which is a big improvement.
Charging the Taycan was impressive. The charging speed shot up super quickly, hitting a peak that we’ve never seen before. It got to 80% battery in just over 16 minutes, which is way faster than before. This makes stopping for a charge much less of a hassle.
One of the coolest things is how accurate the car’s range estimates are. It adjusts its guesses based on how you’re driving, and it’s really good at it. This means you can trust the car to tell you how far you can go, which makes planning long trips easier.
The 2025 Porsche Taycan prototype shows us what the future of electric cars might look like. With its longer range, faster charging, and smart features, it’s setting a new standard for what we can expect from electric vehicles.
The 2025 Taycan is showing us that electric cars can be just as good, or even better, than gas-powered ones. Porsche is making big moves to improve electric driving, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
