Chinese automaker Hongqi is set to make waves in the European electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of its EH7 model. The EH7 will contain a set of enhancements in its aspects for range, performance, and spaciousness.

In terms of performance, Honqi’s EH7 model delivers an estimated range of up to 700 km (434 miles) on a single charge. This exceptional range is also complemented by the EH7 all-wheel-drive (AWD) trim’s fast acceleration, capable ofreaching 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds due to its 619 peak horsepower. Hongqi’s EH7 also offers two battery pack options, an 85 kWh or a 111 kWh battery pack.  

Regarding the specs of the EH7’s model in China, it comes with five different options with three rear-wheel drive (RWD) and two all-wheel drive (AWD) trims. Notably, the AWD trim features a dual-motor version with motors delivering a maximum power of 202 kW and 253 kW, respectively. It also comes with an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds with 75kWh, 85kWh, or 111 kWh battery options while delivering a maximum range of 820 km (509 miles).  

As details not fully disclosed, the EH7 design arrives over 4980 millimeters long and contains a wheelbase of 3000 millimeters according to Hedin Mobility Group. In addition, the interior of the EH7 will have a spacious design for comfort with meticulously selected materials and advanced technological features for an improved driving experience. 

Simon Fransson, CEO of Hedin Premium Car AB, expressed excitement for Hongqi’s EH7 arrival in the European market stating, “We are thrilled to introduce a new standard for range in the large sedan segment. The EH7 will be a strong competitor and speak especially to those who are looking for a spacious, powerful vehicle with outstanding range. We know that these characteristics are highly sought after by most electric car buyers, making the EH7 a particularly attractive option for the European market.”

Despite the arrival of the EH7 in the European market, the European Commission’s ongoing investigation into Chinese EV subsidies has labeled Chinese EVs in a tough spot. Yet, the EH7’s arrival in Europe marks a major milestone for Hongqi as it expands its presence in the global EV market. 

With Hongqi seemingly making an impact in the European market with its EH7 model, the innovative advancement of offered EVs will reach new heights in terms of specs with the EH7 being a representative. Sales will start in Q3 2024while deliveries of the Hongqi EH7 are expected to start in Q4 2024.
