101808: The Evening Standard reports that the proposal for a new electric Routemaster bus is unveiled today, complete with glass roof, optional solar panels and LCD screens showing route details. The e21 can recharge its electric batteries in 10 minutes, with operating costs of a few pence per kilometre.

101808: BMW's Mini E is scheduled for its debout at the 2008 Los Angeles auto show in November. They will be partly manufactured in Oxford, England, from the Cooper assembly line and then a 150 kW (204 hp) direct-current electric motor will be added in Munich, Germany.

101708: Source: By Angela Gunn, BetaNews: Green-vehicle manufacturer Tesla has delayed its S-model new midrange ($60,000) sedan, demoted its CEO, and closed its Michigan office in favor of efforts to make its current Roadster two-seater profitable. Tesla will maintain its newly opened San Jose offices, where it still plans to manufacture its vehicles.

101708: San Francisco Chronicle reports that Hybrid cars not always as green as they seem. They say think plug-in neighborhood electric cars, which cost from less than $10,000 into the $20,000s, are gaining in popularity despite having a top speed of 25 mph and a range of about 50 miles.

101608: Source: Jeremy Cato, Autos.CTV.ca Honda is making hybrid electric/gasoline vehicles in the short term and working at making hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (EVs using hydrogen as a source of on-board electric power) for the long term. Honda has the resources to develop the technology. This years research and development budget is US$5.75 billion, about two-thirds of what GM spends on R&D.

101508: According to India's Economic Times: Tata Motors has acquired a 50.3% stake in Norway-based electric vehicle maker Miljo. Miljo will produce electric vehicles based on Tata Motors’ products. The first to be developed will be Indica EV a four passenger Electric Vehicle scheduled for a European launch in 2009.

101408: The Boston Globe reports that executive vice chairman Patrick Pelata of Renault mentioned that the French carmaker would build a pure electric version of the Fluence, a midsize sedan, and sell as many as 40,000 in 2011 and possibly 80,000 in 2012.

101408: WSG Asia reports that China's BYD to Begin Selling Electric Cars in November of 2008. BYD Co. Chairman Wang Chuanfu said the car, known as the F3DM, and had previously mentioned earlier in the year that the price would be about 150,000 yuan.

101308: Source: Motor Trend Porsche Tuner Ruf revealed its first Porsche 911-based electric car called the eRuf. The eRUF can reportedly manage 0 to 60 mph sprints in less than 7 sec and can hit a top speed of 160 mph and a range of 200 miles on a single charge.

101308: AC Propulsion, Taiwan Group Sign Electric Vehicle technology license agreement with with Yulon Group a leading corporate presence in Taiwan and operates internationally in the automotive and venture capital sectors. AC Propulsion makes the eBox and the tzero EVs. AC Propulsion previously sold a technology license to Tesla Motors, and Tesla adopted tzero™ technology for its line of electric sports cars.

101208: The Akron Beacon Journal: Chrysler's three new EVs surprise introduction produce shock and skepticism in the auto industry. Chrysler is privately owned since its purchase by Cerberus Capital Management LP in August 2007, won't say how much it is spending on the project. However, it has a $3 billion annual capital budget that includes new product development and is hiring engineers and designers for the program.
